Thursday 5th December 2019 – Yesterday’s Summary

A SMALL PROFIT IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN A SMALL LOSS.

Today’s meeting at Ludlow was abandoned. Because of this, the selections were re-calculated later in the morning.

Summary – Wednesday 4th December 2019

OBAD

13.55 Haydock Champagne Mystery HRP Score 55 My choice – Split. Not totally convinced to go for the win on this one. Was leading but made an error & came 2nd The Split bet gave me a small profit.

TRIPLER

13.55 Haydock Champagne Mystery HRP Score 55 My choice – Split. Not totally convinced to go for the win on this one. Was leading but made an error & came 2nd The Split bet gave me a small profit.

14.25 Haydock Sunny Express HRP Score 45. My choice – Split. Well, I think the owner collected this horse from delivering the beer round the cobbles of Weatherfield. It had about as much idea of winning as a politician has of telling the truth. Ended up well down in 5th. This was a loss on my betting.

17.40 Kempton Loxley HRP Score 40. My choice – Split. Ran a good race and almost made it but came 2nd. Gave me a half decent return on the place element, but overall, a small loss on today’s Tripler.

TRIPLER 10% RATCHET

Same procedure as always: 10% of Bank for each selection. I know some of you guys put all the bets on at the same time. Personally, I wait for the result of the 1st race before either hitting my target & stopping for the day or continue to the next race to try & get my 2.5%.

Race 1 gave me a 5% profit because the odds on offer were really decent. End of my Ratchet betting for the day with my target hit on Race 1.

Today’s abandonment at Ludlow was to me, a bit of a blessing. I know Sweet FA about horse racing and just interpret the HRP guys’ selections in my own way. When I logged on this morning, there were selections for Ludlow. These horses were obviously selected for a reason because the software’s algorithms pulled them out as the best options. With Ludlow being called off, the software had to come up with “2nd best” options. I am so keen to win, I just went with the new selections. Thinking about it later, if the replacement selections were that good, they would have been the primary choices??

The lesson it taught me was that if there are any abandoned races in the future, I may decide not to place any bets on that day. I think I was just “chasing the win” today, but by going with the second best selections, I had an overall loss for the day.

I am learning every day and THE most important thing I have learned is to be DISCIPLINED. If I decide not to bet, I am not going to bet. I am not going to think at lunchtime,”Aww go on, place these bets.” I have come to the conclusion that to be a profitable bettor, discipline is the key.

I won’t be posting tomorrow as I am out all day and won’t have the opportunity to get stuck in. I do have a mobile, but my eyes are that bad, even my specs don’t work properly! Getting older is bobbins, but at least it’s better than the alternative!

Good luck in your day’s betting guys.
