** House Notes** Be careful if races start close to each other. You may not get the results of the race you placed a bet on before the next race starts, so do try to either watch a Live Feed of the race, or “watch” the race in real time at Betfair. **
For Tripler, OBAD and Ratchet, I use the 3 selections generated by the HRP software, assess each one and then say what I am going to do. Obviously, you can make your own decisions as to what you think the outcomes will be. Sometimes, the result of a previous race will dictate as to whether I stick with my predictions or not.
My new system, Doc’s Fav Goldmine, is showing plenty of promise and I have had several winners on the spin. My small stakes are increasing in size, due to a constant supply of winning selections 🙂 My DFG Bank is now really building nicely. Any losses do hit hard, as it’s 10% of the Betting Bank, but has always caught up rapidly before moving ahead again.
I stop betting if I hit my target of 2.5% (or as near as dammit.) Use your common sense – if you get close to your personal target, it’s your decision as to whether you want to carry on & go for it. Personally, I learned the harsh lesson of being greedy and many times, when just under target, I have “Gone for it,” only to lose the lot chasing bigger profits.
It’s your call as to whether you take the early odds, hoping they will go down, or wait until nearer the off hoping the odds have increased. The key thing to remember is a winner (or winners) at odds totalling 1.25 or above will hit your Daily Target. A profit of 2.5% per day will double you Bank in a month.
STAY SAFE FELLAS.
I have done a summary of last month’s betting at the bottom of the page.
TODAY’S HRP SELECTIONS
TRIPLER
16.07 – Uttoxeter – Friend Or Foe (82) – Ours is steered by Bryony Frost and is up against David Bellamy and Alfie Bass. Bellamy’s beard and Bass’ shortness go against them, so it’s Bryony all the way. WIN.
16.50 – Newmarket – Secret Protector (89) – Our powerful V-8 jockey, Billy-boy Buick, is up against Brian Moore and Neighbours’ very own Harold Bishop. I’m going to plump for Bill’s V-8 to power him to the chequered flag in first place. WIN.
18.25 – Hexham – Nobby (87) – Named after that ex Man United and England destroyer, Nobby Nobbs, I’m going for its pilot, Rock On Tommy Cannon to blaze a nobby trail. WIN.
OBAD
16.50 – Newmarket – Secret Protector (89) – See Above.
RATCHET – Instructions for use: http://bit.ly/35tpfR
DOC’S FAV GOLDMINE – All selections are in the PLACE market, unless otherwise stated. Stop at a profit of 2.5% per day. (Or as near as.) Use 10% of your Bank as stake. If a loss happens, keep to the last stake and not 10% of the new, reduced Bank.
I am also showing the early Place Odds in brackets, together with the number of runners and the number of horses to be placed in order to win. It’s your decision as to whether or not you take the early odds or wait, hoping they will increase. The key thing to remember is a winner at odds of 1.25 or above will hit your Daily Target. A profit of 2.5% per day will double you Bank every month.
13.00 – Goodwood – Master Milliner. (1.38 – 5 – 2)
13.30 – Goodwood – Billy Mill. (1.35 – 4 – 2)
15.20 – Punchestown – Concertista. (1.15 – 8 – 3)
16.50 – Newmarket – Secret Protector. (1.25 – 4 – 2)
YESTERDAY’S SUMMARY
Tripler Race 1 was a nice winner, although Immy didn’t shimmy in Race 2 – she bombed! Poor 6th place but Race 1 should have been sufficient to stop. Race 3 came 1st. It was a nice win on OBAD, but Immiy’s bomb in Race 2 cost us on Ratchet, although Race 3 brought it back a bit.
Doc’s Fav Goldmine had 6 selections – 1 was a Non Runner and the other 5 all came in 🙂 This system – bar the 1st & 2nd of April, has astounded me this month. I must be nearly getting things right!
TRIPLER
14.45 – Goodwood – Alpinista (79) – Luke Morris is up against Brian Moore and Popeye Doyle, 2 of the TV’s superstars. However, ours has been a consistent performer and even more is expected this season. WIN. RESULT – 1st.
18.45 – Cheltenham – Garde Ville (74) – Ridden by Immy Robinson. What sort of handle is that I ask myself?? Despite her parents giving her a most embarrassing name, I’m going for Immy to shimmy to the flag, WIN. RESULT – 6th.
19.15 – Cheltenham – Highway Jewel (76) – Our 5th Bee Gee brother, Bradley Gibb is in the pilot’s seat on this rascal. Has shown great promise and I reckon he will be Jive Talkin’ all the way to the chequered flag. Another WIN. RESULT – 1st.
OBAD
14.45 – Goodwood – Alpinista (79) – See Above. RESULT – 1st.
RATCHET – RESULTS – 1st, 6th, 1st.

14.30 – Musselburgh – Swaffham Bulbeck (1.26 – 8 – 3) RESULT – 2nd.
14.45 – Goodwood – Alpinista (1.25 – 4 – 2) RESULT – 1st.
15.40 – Punchestown – Rewritetherules (1.29 – 7 – 2) RESULT – 1st.
16.40 – Musselburgh – Kodiak Brown Bear (1.65 – 7 – 2) RESULT – 1st.
18.00 – Punchestown – Bob Olinger (1.17 – 6 – 2) RESULT – Non Runner.
19.15 – Cheltenham – Highway Jewel (1.12 – 8 – 3) RESULT – 1st.
APRIL’S SUMMARY – DOC’S FAV GOLDMINE
The first 2 days of the month were nothing short of a disaster. I placed seven bets using my selections and FIVE of them lost. It PULVERISED my Bank. Using my stakes, it meant that at the end of Day 2, my Bank was standing at 39.11% of the start amount! At this point, a lot of people would have given up thinking it was another pile of rubbish.
However, as Gav drums into us, we are not gamblers but investors. I stuck with the system and slowly but surely, the Bank started growing again. By the end of the month, my initial Bank had not only recouped my initial losses, but had grown by 75.28%. If it hadn’t been for those 5 losses out of 7 bets, the figures would have been dramatically better. Now, if anyone can show me where I can invest my money and get a 75% return in ONE MONTH, I am all ears. All I get from the Halifax is 0.01% A YEAR!!!
Some of you may not be on my wavelength as far as the low odds are concerned, but I take an independent view on each selection. For example, if I think the horse has a terrific chance of placing and the odds are say, 1.10, I will probably go for it. My thinking is that it represents a 10% Return on Investment, which is pretty damn good in my book.
If the odds are low and there is a very large field, I probably won’t bet on that race. However, if the odds are low and there aren’t many runners, I take a different view. I also consider things such as: if it is a very short race, distance-wise and there are a few good runners, I may leave that bet alone as it only takes one tiny mistake and the opposition are all over you like a rash. Likewise, if it’s a very long race in rainy, muddy conditions and it’s a jump race, I will probably give that a miss as well, as the chances of a fall or slip is too great for me to take the risk.
I reach State Retirement Age this year, and my goal is to double my Bank every month. By the time I reach my official “Retirement,” it is my intention to withdraw roughly 30% of my Bank as a monthly, TAX FREE income to supplement my meagre State Pension. I will leave the remainder in Betfair and will use 50% as my Betting Bank and keep 20% as my Reserve Bank. My goal is to do this every month, although there are bound to be good months and not so good months.
Just wonderful to see you specialise in the Tripler, OBAD / Ratchet staking and develop the Docs Goldmine approach. Everyone can do exactly that, or something similar. Quality strategy. The 5 from 7 wrong ‘uns would have psychologically crippled many, but that kind of run on these kind of bets will be very, very rare indeed.
