Friday 27th December

I hope you all had a great Christmas despite the lack of betting available. No betting for me yesterday as our lad was round for our “Christmas Day” dinner & prezzies. I hope you all had good results from your betting.

TODAY’S SELECTIONS

13.30 at Kempton. I’m going for a SPLIT on this one. Using Gav’s brilliant spreadsheet – get it if you can – it tells me that if I go for a Split and the horse wins, I will will both the Win AND the Place elements and it will give me a 4% return. If that’s the case, it’s JOB DONE for me. I hope so because the 3 selections are very close together, time-wise.

Race 2 will be a WIN as it is miles in front of all the other donkeys. (Ooops – that straight away gives me the judders.) If I have to go to Race 3, I will probably go for a Split.

Regarding the Ratchet System, it’s always 10% of the day’s starting bank but I will be looking at the Place odds to see if they’re hovering around the 1.2 mark. If they’re a lot lower, consider leaving until the next race because the risk of losing a hefty stake may outweigh the potential return.

As always, I STOP for the day if I hit a 2.5% profit on the day.

Tip for the day – all 3 of today’s selections start within minutes of each other. Work out your stakes & whether you are going for a Win or a Split well before the start of the races, so that you don’t panic and press the wrong buttons! I’ve done that in the past. (I was putting a place bet on for £8.50 and when I checked if the bet had been accepted, it had, BUT for £85!!! Fortunately, it came 2nd & I won, but it taught me a valuable lesson.

God luck for today.

also my spreadheet based on the split Win $2.52 and Place $1.23 is only showing a 2.95% return .. can you please show how you got to 4% .. as I think thats where we’d all like to be

Terry – look at 1 Bet A Day & HRP Tripler links at the top of the page. Zoran – you’re correct. The 1st race WAS the 13.20. I guess it depends on what stake you are using regarding the percentage.
