TODAY’S SELECTIONS
TRIPLER – Due to cancellations, only 2 meetings on today. Both – thank goodness – on all weather tracks.
14.35 – Southwell – Capla Spirit. 6 Furlong dash. Not the favourite & good odds for the Place. SPLIT.
17.30 – Wolverhampton – Buy Me Back. Like Race 1, not the favourite & good Place odds. SPLIT.
OBAD
See 14.35 above.
RATCHET
If Race 1 places, it should be a good return.
YESTERDAY’S SUMMARY
Naively, I thought Trainers knew their horses. How then, can a favourite run out of steam when in front? Or am I thick? I went for 3 WINS. The first 2 races lost, so my bank was well down. Pulled a bit back with a win on Race 3, but an overall loss on OBAD and TRIPLER.
Better result on RATCHET with a nice Place on Race 1.
Hi Dr Robert
Hi Rob, have you a worked example on how the Ratchet Plan unfolds with a calculation.
Thanks
Steve
Example of Starting Bank of £100.
Stake 10% = £10.
Place Odds 2.14
Horse comes 2nd so therefore you win.
Winnings would be: £10.00 x 2.14 – £10.00 * 0.95 (Betfair commission.) = £10.83
New Bank = £110.83 so next stake would be £11.08 (10% of new bank.)
If the horse LOST, your new bank would be £90, BUT you would NOT drop your stake lower than the 1st race, so your stake on Race 2 would be £10.
I hope this helps. You can build your own spreadsheet for Ratchet. If you can’t, let me know your email address.
Hi Dr Robert,
Brilliant, thanks for that Rob. I understand it now. First selection is a good result for the Split Stake. 1/4 – 3/4 stake. Done for today but I am tempted for the 5:30 wolves – tempting, Aaaagh !
Dr Robert,
A good result with the selection coming in second, and at a good price with a place. The second selection 17:30 Wolves came in 2nd at a good price too, and on hindsight you wish you had put the bet on. Never mind tomorrow’s gonna be another day.
It’s always tempting Steve, but I’ve come a cropper in the past so am happy – well not 100% – to stick at my target.
