Monday 25th November 2019 + Summary

OBAD

1 12.45 Musselburgh Timetochill

A clear favourite looking at Betfair’s early prices with odds of 4/5. The next horse is 11/2 with some “middle of the roaders” bringing up the rear & a few running for a nice break & some fresh air. Timetochill also has a good HRP score of 67. Only downside is my phobia of hurdles! PLEASE don’t fall!

My choice – WIN

TRIPLER

1 12.45 Musselburgh Timetochill HRP Score 67 See OBAD above

2 13.30 Kempton Thomas Darby HRP Score 55

At least this is a straightforward flat race over 2 miles. Thomas Darby is touching evens for this race followed by 3 that are very similar in odds just behind. The rest I think are normally kept in the stables as pets. I hope the 3 horses showing just behind Thomas Darby are more interested in beating each other than winning.

If we do need to go to this race, I will almost certainly go for a WIN. However, once the result of Race 1 is known, I will see if I can hit my target by doing a Split bet. The coward’s option again, but 2.5% for the day suits me just fine. On this occasion though, I will probably go for the win.

My Choice – WIN

3 18.00 Chelmsford Secret Smile HRP Score 50

This is a 7 furlong dash to the tape. There is no small odds favourite on this race, the early leader on Betfair has odds of 7/2. Secret Smile is showing 4th best at 6/1. Should we need to go to this race, I am looking at a Split. The odds look good on the Place market and if it does win, should return some nice figures.

My choice – SPLIT

As always, all I am trying to do is make a small profit every day, grow my Bank and make life a little more comfortable. As I always say, my daily target is 2.5%, so if I hit it on Race 1, I will stop that particular system for the day.

The choice is yours as to whether or not you feel “It’s your day” and want to carry on. If you work out your Bank doubling every month by sticking at 2.5% daily, you will have a really healthy Bank after 6 months. That’s my attitude.

TRIPLER 10% RATCHET

Straight 10% of Bank as the stake. Target for the day as always, is to win 2.5% of my Starting Bank. It’s your money so it’s your choice as to whether you want to go for all 3. I have done in the past & come a cropper. But it’s your choice.

Good luck guys.

Summary – Sunday 24th November 2019

OBAD

1 13.40 Uttoxeter Designer Destiny

My choice – SPLIT

Ran a steady race but slipped down the field to 6th at one stage. It rallied a bit but never had the legs to get further than 2nd. It provided me with a tiny profit. But hey, profit is profit! I’d sooner have a small profit than a loss.

TRIPLER

1 13.00 Navan Abracadabras Non Runner

2 13.40 Uttoxeter Designer Destiny HRP Score 65

My choice – SPLIT

Ran a steady race but slipped down the field to 6th at one stage. It rallied a bit but never had the legs to get further than 2nd. It provided me with a tiny profit. But hey, profit is profit! I’d sooner have a small profit than a loss.

3 15.30 Navan Bigbadandbeautiful HRP Score57

My choice – SPLIT

The horse won with a lot of the others at very long odds. In fact, the 2nd placed plodder came in at 66/1. Now THAT would have been some return! In fact, Bigbadandbeautiful was such a strong favourite I would have shown my a**e on the Town Hall steps if it hadn’t won!

I know lots would have gone for the WIN on this and no wonder. But, even though a really healthy return would have been lovely, I’m quite happy just to hit my daily target and let my Bank take care of itself.

Result was a profit of 2.73% for the day. Not as much as some would like but suits me just fine.

Greed is the number one enemy of any bettor and it does take discipline not to start betting on every race. But hey, you can if you want. It’s your money and totally up to you.

TRIPLER 10% RATCHET

As the 1st horse was a Non Runner, Designer Destiny was my 1st selection of the day. It finished in 2nd place at good odds. Result was that I hit my target (I actually got a return of 5.2%).

Job Done for the day.

Small profit on OBAD, slightly over target on Tripler and double my target on Tripler Ratchet.

All in all, a good day. (Which is more than I can say for Man Utd! They are 1 – 0 down at Sheffield United as I write this. Is Poch on his way into the club?)

Dr Rob. As you know I am new to this and today is my first day. I have a learning difficulty, especially with instructions and percentages. I have been told by Gav to follow you personally and I will try my best to learn. I read you have a spreadsheet which will help me keep track of my bets and also work out how much I need to bet in each race to make a 2.5% profit for the day. Where can I find that, please? Sorry If I need to ask you a question now and again until I get the hang of things. Gary

      Hi Gary.
The spreadsheet is available on the main page under the heading HRP Rewards Downloads. I suggest you contact Gav if this proves difficult or you need to know exactly how to get it. If this proves an issue, I made my own to start with. Primitive but worked mostly! Basically, it is a spreadsheet with headings. You would have to format the columns yourself though. Gav’s is a MILLION times better.

Hello Dr.Rob I’m getting started soon. I’m looking at the 10% Rachet system using the place market on the daily tripler, will use 5% of my bank roll to start with as I’m a little concerned 10% with a losing run could be difficult to recover from, but should I not be concerned as with a 90% strike rate its safeish?

Also I see Gav, gives a daily place banker and a value place, should I place these also? and at what % should I bet the value bet?
I see today that the 3 race in the tripler, Secret smile 18.00 Chelmsford is heavily in the – red -50.12 should this be no bet? How are the past results looking on these heavily in the minus horses?
    Really appreciate your advice.
    Best Dave

Dave. It’s your money. It’s absolutely fine if you want to use 5% as your stake. It only means your potential profits will grow slower. That’s not a problem though.Just keep reminding yourself how much a Bank would give you interest-wise in a YEAR. 5% a day is fine if that’s what you want.

Hi Dave.I haven’t a clue about daily place banker. I just stick to One Bet A Day & The Tripler. I am clueless as regards to horse racing but these systems suit me as they are simple.
As regards to being in the red, again, I just stick to my simple principles – if I hit a profit of 2.5% I STOP for the day. I’m not greedy; I just want my bank to grow so I can enjoy next year with a bit more financial stability.

      Hi Gary.
It’s 100% your choice. Personally, I do. I wish the 1st race every day gave me 2.5%. I would then sleep happy 🙂 If you had done all 3 today, you would have won on Races 1 & 2, but lost on Race 3. You would have had an overall loss on the Ratchet System. As it was, I hit 2.5% after the 1st 2 races so I stopped. Good job I did & wasn’t greedy.

Dave. In most instances, a WIN bet is made. This means the horse HAS to win in order for you to make any money. If it comes 2nd or more, you lose your stake. 100% of your stake goes on the WIN.
A Split bet is one whereby you usually use 25% of your stake on the “Win” element and 75% of your stake on the “Place.”
If you don’t feel 100% confident that your horse will win, but you still think it has a good chance of finishing in the (normally) top 3, you can look at a Split bet. Occasionally, there are races where the exchange will pay out on the top 2. Always look on the Place Market to see how many places they are paying out on.
Sometimes, I will do a split bet after I have worked out the returns if it either wins or “places”. If I can do a Split bet and achieve a return of 2.5%, that’s good enough for me.
