TODAY’S BETS
Race 1. Our selection is the favourite but not by much. The odds for the Place are not worth it so I am taking a flyer & going for a WIN. Race 2, the odds are very close between our choice & the next one. Also, there are 14 runners. The place odds are fairly decent so I am not tempting fate and am going for a SPLIT. The last race only has 5 runners and they are paying out on 2 places. The odds for the place are quite good so again, after yesterday’s poor show, I am going for a SPLIT.
YESTERDAY’S SUMMARY
The 13.20 at Kempton was a Split bet for me. It really should have been classed as “How Not To Win A Race.” Although favourite, the damn thing came a poor 5th. Loss on Race 1. Panic time as the next 2 races were really close together. Race 2 – what did I say about clear favourites? This bugger came 2nd. I went for the win & I guess it had been on the Christmas Pud! I had to hurry to get the 3rd bet on and bearing in mind the previous results, I went for a Split. It actually won so I clawed back some of the losses. Regarding Ratchet, because the pleb in Race 1 didn’t even place, my 10% stake evaporated. The other 2 horses placed but not enough winnings to recoup my loss.
Overall, I should have stayed in bed & watched the Emmerdale Omnibus.
On a bright note, when I was rushing to get Race 2’s bet on, I never checked it was accepted and went to Race 3. When the frantic 3rd Race had finished, I couldn’t find my Race 2 bet anywhere (Tripler.) I went on Live Chat & was told that the odds had dropped and I had to accept the new, lower odds. As I was on race 3, I never saw this & thought the bet had been placed. In actual fact, it wasn’t accepted by the Exchange so LUCKILY I never actually lost on Race 2 as it didn’t accept my bet, otherwise I would have been tempted to jump into the Bridgewater Canal!
Hi rob,do you look at recovery when you have lost.
Hi Michael. I use Gav’s awesome spreadsheet which automatically calculates the next stake taking everything into consideration. Regarding the Ratchet System, I just use 10% of the Bank, whether I have had a loser or a winner in the last race. Cheers, Doc.
