A SMALL PROFIT IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN A SMALL LOSS
OBAD
12.00 Aintree – Casablanca Mix. HRP 67. Only 4 runners & a clear favourite. Excellent write up. My choice – WIN.
TRIPLER
12.00 Aintree – Casablanca Mix. See OBAD above.
14.40 Aintree – Native River. HRP 62. Favourite but not by much. Only 4 runners. Good HRP score & well fancied. My choice – WIN.
15.00 Sandown – Defi du Seuil. HRP 60. Favourite but odds not too short. 8 runners, paying place bets on 1st 2. Depending on the above results, may go for a SPLIT. I will wait to see how the 1st 2 races went on. Hopefully, I will have hit my 2.5% target on Race 1.
Lots of people will want to win as much as possible. I take the view that if I can win 2.5% a day, I am more than happy. If I did, my Bank will double every month. Simple maths tell you what you will have in 6 months’ time. To me, it’s a no-brainer. I play it as safe as possible. I hate losing so minimise my risks to maximise my profits.
TRIPLER RATCHET
10% of my Bank on 1st selection. I ALWAYS stop if I hit my 2.5% target. Some like to do all 3 races. I just want a profit & have disciplined myself to stop when I do..
Yesterday’s Summary.
OBAD
12.55 – Exeter – Sporting John – HRP Score 95. My choice – WIN. Ran a tactical race & pulled away for a nice win. Didn’t hit my 2.5% target, but who cares cos I still won.
TRIPLER
12.45 – Sandown – Goshen – HRP Score 65. My choice – WIN. Made a couple of mistakes but a relatively easy win. A nice win but just under my 2.5% target, so carried on to Race 2.
12.55 – Exeter – Sporting John – HRP Score 95. My choice – WIN. Ran a tactical race & pulled away for a nice win. Combined with the win in Race 1, the magical “Job Done” flashed up on my spreadsheet. No more betting for me so not bothered about Race 3.
16.25 – Newcastle – Glen Forge – HRP Score 52. My choice – WIN. Not a brilliant ride & came in a somewhat disappointing 3rd.
TRIPLER RATCHET
Straight 10% of my Bank as the stake. The only thing I will look out for is whether the Place Odds are so low that they negate the potential winnings against the possibility of losing my stake. I always try to only go for a Place Bet if the odds are in the region of 1.2 & above. However, the choice is yours.
Because the Place odds for the horses in both Races 1 & 2 were really low, I decided to leave these races & no bet. The risk far outweighed any potential profit. May be a little dangerous because it left me with just Race 3 to have a go on. The odds were a lot better for the Place and it was a short race with no jumps. It came third but still gave me a win, albeit a fraction under my target.
All in all, a successful day because I made a profit on each of the 3 systems.
Appreciate your post Rob, Very important to have the discipline to stop when the target is hit and not be over ambitious/greedy. Keep instilling this 🙂
