Tuesday 31st December 2019 + Summary

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE. I HOPE IT’S A HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS 2020.

TODAY’S GONNA BE TRICKY! BE CAREFUL & DON’T PANIC.

We’ve got the usual 3 races today, but the start times are 12.40, 12.45 & 12.55. All start within 15 minutes so we’ve GOT to have a clear head & get things straight in our minds what we are going to do beforehand. There’s not much time to get the result before proceeding with the next race. The 1st race is over 2 miles so will probably finish AFTER Race 2 starts.

This gives us a problem: do we sit and wait or do we put the 2nd bet on before Race 1 finishes, not knowing the result? What I will do is monitor the race on Betfair & see how the odds are moving during the race. If the odds are increasing on our selection, I MAY put the 2nd bet on based on the assumption that Race 1 is going to lose. If the odds are steadily moving in, it looks like the horse will win so I will sit back. If it does win, it will be Job Done as it will hit my 2.5% target. Some of you may be fortunate enough to be able to watch the races live on TV and will be in a better position to make a call on the next race.

12.40 Punchestown. Salsaretta. Only 5 runners & ours is the top favourite. WIN.

12.45 Uttoxeter. Accordingtogino. Favourite but not by a lot. 11 runners & bloody jumps. I’m going for a SPLIT.

12.55 Warwick. Emma’s Joy. (Also the OBAD selection.) 2nd favourite, 12 runners, jumps again. SPLIT.

PLEASE NOTE: all the above choices are from an initial standpoint. I (& you) will have to have a clear head & make decisions as each race finishes. Good luck & DON’T press the wrong buttons when placing your bets! (I have in the past!)

YESTERDAY’S SUMMARY

What a disappointing day! In the 1st race, Zoffee was leading but no stamina to finish the race off & ended up 2nd. I went for a Win so I lost. In the 2nd race, Cloudy Glen came in for us as a Win & dragged my loss into a small profit, but nowhere near the 2.5% I am looking for, so I carried on to the 3rd race – Deja Vu – with a Split bet. Even if the nag had come 2nd, it would have been Job Done, but yet again, as has been happening a lot recently, it was beaten into 5th place including by some rank outsiders. It really annoys me thinking that to the jockeys (I know they want to win,) it’s just another job. They simply get ready for the next race. I dunno if they realise that a lot of people have backed them with their hard earned money, especially when the horse is joint favourite & gets beaten by a 7/1 & a 33/1 dumpster.

The OBAD selection won, giving me a small profit, but that was heavily knocked back by the losses on Zoffee & Deja Vu. This meant a small profit on OBAD but losses on Tripler and Ratchet. Too many red losses showing on my spreadsheet, but hopefully, the New Year will bring better fortune.

If I get anywhere near my 2.5% target, I will STOP for the day.
