TODAY’S SELECTIONS
TRIPLER
12.45 – Ludlow – Mick Pastor (55) – Made a big mistake in his last race. Expect a lesson to be learned. WIN.
18.15 – Kempton – Thai Terrier (42) – Only 5 runners. Paying 2 places. Good/decent odds. SPLIT.
18.45 – Kempton – Soldier’s Minute (62) – As above. Only 5 runners, 2 place payout & decent odds. SPLIT.
My choices can change during the day depending on the results of prior races but these are my initial thoughts.
OBAD
See 18.45 above.
RATCHET
10% of Bank as a stake, but stopping anywhere near a 2.5% profit, especially after yesterday’s results.
YESTERDAY’S SUMMARY
What a massively frustrating day! The OBAD selection was also the 1st race on Tripler & it duly won. This gave me a nice profit on OBAD & I hit Job Done on Tripler, so no more betting on these systems. However, because the Place odds were fairly low, the profit on Ratchet was very small so I went for the 2nd race with my 10% bank stake. The idiotic horse/jockey combo could only muster 4th so my bank was well down. The 3rd & last race was also the favourite & if it placed, my losses would have been acceptable. The stupid bugger again came 4th. My Bank got whacked for 20% from this morning. One of the horses that finished in the top 3 was a 20/1 long-shot. In my non-horse racing brain, this means that it should really only win ONCE if the same race was run TWENTY TIMES! In my mind, a favourite means just that – it is the chosen horse to win as it should beat the others. Not every time I admit, but at the very least, the favourite SHOULD finish in the top 3. Why is a horse the favourite if it is leading but doesn’t have the stamina to finish the race in the lead/top 3?
The losses on Ratchet totally wiped out all the good work from OBAD & Tripler. I am now seriously thinking of only doing Ratchet bets on horses that will bring a 2.5% return if they place.
